District Evaluation Data - Principal PRINCIPAL EVALUATION SYSTEM 2009-2010 Introduction: As part of the federal requirements for states’ receiving funding under Phase 2 of the State Fiscal Stabilization Funds Program, all school districts in New Jersey are providing information to the public on the procedures they use to evaluate teachers and principals. The information presented below will help you understand East Windsor Regional School District’s policies and procedures for evaluating principals and assistant principals. Description of Principal Evaluation System: Principals and assistant principals are evaluated in order to promote their professional excellence and improve their skills, to enhance student learning and growth, and to provide a basis for the review of administrative performance. All principals and assistant principals are evaluated for effectiveness in multiple areas, including: · Instructional Leadership · Communication · Professionalism · Articulating and facilitating a vision of learning · Creating and nurturing a positive school climate/culture · Management of the school and its resources as a safe, efficient and effective learning environment · Collaboration with families and community to promote school and student success · Integrity and ethical behavior · Understanding statutory and legal responsibilities · Pedagogical leadership · Technological expertise · Progress on Professional Growth Plans · Progress towards district goals Principal/assistant principal’s evaluations are used: · To plan professional development opportunities · To inform a principal’s/assistant principal’s Professional Growth Plan · To inform recommendations for continued employment All non tenured principals and assistant principals are formally evaluated a minimum of three times annually. All tenured principals and assistant principals are formally evaluated a minimum of one time annually. Additional formal observations may me scheduled by supervisors as needed. Non-tenured administrators who are working towards standard certification must also serve an intensive two-year residency program with mentoring and support from a state approved provider.
