HIGHTSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Day B,   FRIDAY,    May 25,  2018

The RISE/NHS GoLead Movie Under the Stars WILL take place tonight from 7:30 -10 on the lacrosse field. The movie to be shown is  CoCo  and is FREE  and open to  the whole community.  There will be snacks available for purchase. 

Students may now access the Parent Portal to select their courses for the 2018-19 school year.

Next Wednesday and Thursday (May 30-31) we will be conducting the New Jersey Science Assessment for all 11th grade students. In every way this looks and acts like the PARCC tests we have been taking recently. All 11th grade students will report to the Auditorium on test days at 7:30.  The test involves 4 sixty minute units; two each day.  All 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students will follow their normal schedule. Any questions about the 11th grade Science test should be discussed with Mr. Delaney.

Hightstown High School will hold 30 minute information sessions for students interested in Vocational School for Junior and Senior year, and after high school. On Monday, June 4th, Tuesday, June 5th, and Wednesday, June 6th from 8:30 am - 9:30 am in the Library students will have the chance to meet with vocational teachers and students currently enrolled to learn more about programs offered. There will be two info sessions per day that students can sign up for.  Please contact your Counselor to sign up to attend.

Come to the Ram Slam on May 29th! The second poetry slam of the year will be in the library after school from 2:30 to 4:00. Sign-ups are outside Room 105. For more information, email hightstownwritersblock@gmail.com.   (Mrs. Fox)

Senior prom forms can be picked up at the Scott house office. Please pick up the blue After Prom form along with the prom form. Money is due this Friday, May 25th. See Claire for table form. (Mrs. Horta)

There will be a GSA meeting, held in the Choir Room on Tuesday, May 29th, immediately following school. (Mr. Olsen)

The weight room will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. (May 29-31) (Mr. Waldstein)

The SNHS meeting after school today has been moved to Tuesday, May 29th. Members can pick up permission slips for the Live from Surgery Virtual Conference tomorrow in room 120. (Ms. Kuzora)

Anyone interested in playing Field Hockey next year, there will be a meeting Thursday 5/31 at 2:20 right after school in room 402! (Mr. Larkin)

The BIology Student Scholars Club will be dissecting a variety of species on Friday June 1st after school in room 120. All are welcome. (Ms. Kuzora)

The following students medaled at the Freshmen/Sophomore Spring Track championships Wednesday:
Shruti Subramanian - 1st - 3200,  Tharani Kannan -  2nd - 3200,  Jarrett Justice - 3rd -100 m, Matt Lederman - 3rd - shot put, Joe Kesckes - 3rd - high jump,  Jadyn Childs - 2nd - triple jump, Julia Scibich - 1st - shot put and 3rd - discus, Joanna Koublanou - 1st - 400 hurdles and  2nd -100 hurdles

Fall Sports physicals will be held on Thursday June 14th  from 12:15 - 5pm. Register for your sport through Family ID and then take your paperwork to Mrs. Thomas in the nurse's office by June 8th to schedule your appointment. 

Please keep your library books current. Renew or return them so they do not become obligations in Genesis.

The work from the 9th Annual Student Art Show is still on display in the library. Please stop in to see this display of our students' talent!

Writer’s Block is still accepting art and writing submissions for the literary magazine! Submit your work to hightstownwritersblock@gmail.com, or outside Room 105 no later than May 30th. (Mrs. Fox)
