HIGHTSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

WEDNESDAY         DAY A         JANUARY 18th

 

The HHS Talent Show will be Friday night, January 20th, starting at 7 pm. Admission is $5.

Auditions for the all-male a cappella group The Hights Tones will be held  Friday, January 20th, immediately after school in room 300. All guys are welcome. Please sign up on the door of room 300 and be prepared to sing a song that you know.

Anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard or needing a recertification course please see Mrs. O'Connor in the pool office for an information packet. The course will start February 7th.

NHS will have a meeting January18th in the cafeteria.

 Attention Red Cross members:  our next meeting is on Wednesday Jan.18, at 2:30 in Cafe R.

The Junior and Senior classes will be hosting a fundraiser at City Streets on Monday, January 23rd from 5:00-11:00.  Please hand the attached flyer to your server at City Streets .  Thanks in advance for supporting the classes of 2016 and 2017!

Spring Sports Physicals will be held Friday, Feb. 3rd. Appointments must be made in the nurses's office by Jan. 27th. You must first register at familyid.com .

All students, parents, faculty and staff are invited to join Peer Group Connection for Family Night on Wednesday, January 25th from 6:30-9:00pm in the main cafeteria. Our senior peer leaders will facilitate an interactive evening to help adults and teens understand each other’s experiences and perspectives, improve their communication, and help our freshmen make an easier transition into high school. Food and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to either Bill Kamps or Sam Biondi by January 23rd. 

HHS is pleased to announce a special event for ELL families,  Pathways to Success.  On Wednesday, February 8th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, the high school, in conjunction with EWEA, will host an evening event for current and exited ELL students and their families, who will learn about the wide variety of academic choices, extra-curricular activities and support offered at the high school.  Our goal, co-developed by HHS staff members Candice Bland, Carlos Calix and Amy Gazaleh, is to create family connections to set our ELL students up for success here at HHS and after graduation.  More details will be forthcoming, but we hope you can save the date and join us.

There will be a ski trip meeting on Tuesday Jan 24 immediately after school in room 207.

There are many opportunities for tutoring after school in the library. Try NHS TUTORING  every TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, for help with any subject.   MATH NHS  offers tutoring for any math course every WEDNESDAY, SPANISH NHS will offer tutoring in any subject on Thursdays.  Late bus passes will be provided.

The Athletic Department has launched a new app that will provide fans with points for attending home athletic events.  Go to your app store and search for Ram Stampede (two words) or ramrewards  (one word).   The winner at the end of each season will receive a prize.

HHS Marching Band Win New Jersey State Championships!
The Hightstown High School Marching Band placed 1st out of 23 bands at New Jersey State Championships last night. In addition to the win, the Marching Rams won Best Overall Effect. The band will continue their season at Robbinsville High School this Saturday and complete their season at National Championships on November 5.
